Supplemental Funding

Supplemental Funding is available to parents to support the purchase of resources and services that cannot be directly delivered by The Argyll Centre.

These may include such things as community sports/arts programs, music lessons, tutors and educational materials.

Parents can choose to allocate a portion of this funding to access on-site programming, consumable materials, field trips, etc.

For further information about Supplemental Funding, please consult the Supplemental Funding Guidelines & Reimbursement Process handbook.

This Supplemental Funding and Fees Chart 2012-2013 details the Supplemental Funding and fees currently planned for the 2012-2013 school year.

Current statements of account as well as claim forms for the reimbursement of expenses are available to parents of registered students from inside My Locker. If you require help accessing the portal, contact the Technology Helpdesk at 1-888-532-7222 ext. 243.

***For the 2013-14 school year, Supplemental Funding will no longer be offered for High School credits.

In order to continue to offer a higher level of instruction, we have been seeking ways in which we can continue to support the strong technology infrastructure we currently have in place. Because we rely on sophisticated technologies (hardware, software - licensing in particular, and 2 full time technical analysts who provide technical support) to an extent that far surpasses all other schools, our funding model needs to take into account costs that simply aren't incurred by other bricks and mortar schools, and/or boards who offer primarily paper based materials. Argyll is recognized as being a provider of the best online delivery model and a centre of excellence.

At the elementary and junior high levels, we reduce the supplemental funding by $300 to help offset some of these costs. This has not applied to high school students in the past.

The supplemental funding initially came into play when most of our students were using paper-based materials for instruction and learning. A large majority of our resources have since gone into the development of strong asynchronous online courses, complemented by live direct instruction through the virtual class. We believe, and know from the research, that our work is leading to higher levels of learning for our students, in addition to higher completion rates for our high school students.

It is our belief (and hope) that our families will continue to choose Argyll because of the high level of service and support we provide to our students and families. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and your family at Argyll.
