High School Secondary Registrations

High School students registered at another school may not be able to take all the courses they want to due to schedule conflicts or if the courses are not available at the school they are registered at. We offer these students the ability to take the courses they otherwise would not be able to from Argyll Centre, while remaining enrolled at their regular school. This is known as a secondary registration.

Secondary registrations require the knowledge and cooperation of the school the student is registered at, or primary school. In order to register at Argyll Centre as a secondary registrant, students need to:

  1. Talk to your Counselor or an Administrator at their school to determine if the desired courses will fit with your educational plan.
  2. Obtain a written letter of permission from your Counselor or School Administrator containing:
    1. the course(s) you wish to enroll in
    2. accurate student demographic information, including e-mail address
    3. the date the letter was issued. (You must register at Argyll Centre within two weeks of the date the letter was issued)
    4. the name, contact information and signature of the Counselor or School Administrator.
  3. Register in person at one of Argyll Centre's campuses. Bring the letter as well as any of the necessary items listed below:
  • If you are new to Argyll Centre, you should bring a recent report card or transcript. This will help us to select the instructional methods and materials that are best suited to your student.
  • If a student has never been registered with an Edmonton Public School before, you should bring a birth certificate or other legal document to verify their birth date. Other valid documents include landed immigrant document, Canadian citizenship document, change of name certificate, passport, or student visa. If you do not have a valid document to verify the student's age, you may sign a temporary declaration of age and provide the necessary documentation within 3 months of registering. Students should be a maximum of 19 years old as of September 1 of the school year.
  • Edmonton Public School District registration guidelines say that a student should be a resident of Alberta. You should bring some proof of address, such as a driver's licence or utility bill, to prove the parent's residency in Alberta.
  • While most of our school fees are charged to the supplementary funding students have access to, some fees, such as textbook deposits, student agendas and ID cards must be paid during registration. Make sure you have a method of payment for these minor expenses.
