Leadership Through Literacy

Would your child benefit from learning with a community of readers, writers and speakers?
Does your child want his/her voice to be heard? Does he have a great imagination? Does she want to make a difference? If so, then Leadership Through Literacy might be for your child.

This weekly program for students in grades 6 through 8 will use various strategies to support literacy learning at home. Students will be walked through the steps of writing an essay, discussing literature and exploring how writing can be a tool to empower others and make changes.

The class may have the opportunity to visit a homeless shelter or see other community outreach programs in action. The focus will be exploring what it means to make a difference for others in our daily lives.

This program is available to students in Parent Directed Home Education, Blended and Teacher Directed programs. Maximum class size is 16.
