Blended Education

If you do not want your education plan to be entirely teacher directed or home education, Argyll offers you the option of combining the two in what is called a Blended program. Parents and students work together with our staff to determine which courses will be taught at home and which will use a teacher directed approach.

Alberta Programs of Study (APS)

Alberta Programs of Study, or APS, are provincially created definitions of what students are expected to know and be able to do in each subject area. This includes core courses as well as optional courses or programs.

For more information, see the Guide to Education, or the Government of Alberta web site.

According to provincial regulations, at least 50% of the program for grades 1-9 and at least 20% for grades 10-12, must be teacher directed instruction that follows the Alberta Program of Study to qualify as a blended program. The rest of the program may be Home Education that meets the Home Education Regulation.
