Steps to Register

Registration is a simple four-stage process at Argyll Centre.

  1. Choose a program

Use the Learning Options information on this web site, or contact our registration staff for up-to-date registration information. If you need help making a decision, our staff are available to explain your options and help you make the right choice for your students. If you will be outside Alberta during the school year, make sure that you have read the Residency Guidelines.

  2. Fill in an Argyll Centre registration form

If you wish to register for the Caraway Program or are registered at another school and just want to take one or a few courses from us, please contact Argyll school at 780-465-1299 or toll free 1-888-532-7222 ext 0. Otherwise please click the Register Online link below.

To make the registration process as quick as possible, please make sure you have everything you need to register.

  3. Online Registration
NOTE: You can not register for Summer Correspondence using the Online Registration process.

After September 30, online registrations will be accepted for High School Correspondence only. Secondary registration (students registered at another school and wishing to access a course through Argyll), may not use the online registration. A permission form from the primary high school must be presented when they register in person at Argyll Centre.

All other students in grades 1-9 are required to register at their neighborhood school.

  4. Confirmation of Registration

The Argyll Centre will contact parents or guardians via e-mail to confirm registration, provide login information, as well as additional information regarding Argyll resources, technical information, and assigned teachers. Once you have received your login information, you can access My Locker to view news items, email, and links to educational resources.

  5. Assignment of teachers

All Parent Directed and Teacher Directed students will be expected to develop Individual Education Plans (IEP). You will be assigned a teacher as your Argyll contact, support, and resource person for the year. This person will be able to help you with your education plan.

All Argyll Centre staff are professionally dedicated and knowledgeable concerning home education. All of our teachers have at least one university degree, are certificated teachers and members of the Alberta Teacher Association (ATA).

Assistant Principals are responsible for assigning teachers. They take the following into consideration when assigning staff to families.

    • the grade/age of the student
    • other children in the same family and their grade level
    • where you live
    • the educational philosophy or approach you have chosen
    • whether the student was previously registered at Argyll and working with a specific teacher
    • the teacher's individual work load
    • requests of the family
    • what program the student is registered in
